I'm going to re-do this post because the last one didn't get saved and now I have to start all over. Not much has changed here, still waiting for it to be April 2 for the appointment. Not that it's all I think about since my son's birthday is coming up before that. Yesterday on my way home from selling some baby things I came to a decision, I'm going to have my tubes tied. I don't want to do it but it's in the best interest of the family.
There are a few reasons behind my decision:
- The kids probably have the cancer gene, don't want anymore innocents to have to deal with it.
- I don't know that complications the pregnancy would have because of the ileostomy.
- The risks of having a child during all this.
I did have a miscarriage a few years ago and I vowed not to have anymore. Then about seven months later I wanted to try to have another one and we weren't doing the temperature or anything, so I never got pregnant. Plus I don't have regular periods anyway so it made it difficult. I haven't been trying for over a year and now with this going on it's on my mind but not the "I want to get pregnant" thing. I'm afraid that now that I am really done that I will get pregnant. I was on birth control for quite a few years and it's really not for me. The Man doesn't want to have a vasectomy, so that leaves me with having it done.
When I called my OB/GYN yesterday I ended up talking with the nurse and she didn't seem to understand what I was saying and I was very nice and asked if I could just talk to my doctor. She then told me that my doctor was moving back to Michigan. I was devastated when I found that out. But back to the point. The nurse saw that Little Miss Diligent hasn't had a PAP since 2006. That's one appointment that I always go to and never miss, until that year I guess. So I scheduled my PAP appointment and figured I could just talk to her then about getting my tubes tied.
The questions I have for her are:
- How long do I have to wait between this and the ileostomy?
- Should I wait 4 months until I'm healed from the ileostomy?
- How is a tubal ligation performed, what are the risks and side effects?
I do have more but these are the main ones that I have. When I get the answers I'll tell you what they are.
As a parent right now I'm still a little short. Last night I took the kids out to play and as they started playing well together I decided that it was probably a good time to start weeding the back yard. I had one weed that was almost as tall at I was. What's funnier was that I didn't even know it was a weed, it looked like a plant the grew pumpkins.
So we dug that big boy out and he was deep. It's amazing how big some of the weeds are out here.
Off the whole weed thing. So The Man was playing kick ball with the kids while I did the yard and after we were done we let B play his computer game and we let G be a monster for the night. I don't know what her fascination is with making certain noises. Oh well, it's life right? So we played tickle monster and hide and tickle monster and she had a lot of fun.
Since they were good kids last night that The Man thought it would be nice to take them to their favorite pizza shop. Yeah, that didn't go so well. They instantly started throwing fits about the smallest thing and it just wasn't fun. I guess they were really tired and needed to go to bed.
I really want to talk to my kids about what's going on with me but since they are almost 5 and almost 3 that they are to young for a deep conversation. I tell them that I need a surgery and this, that and the other thing. They listen for about five seconds and off they go. At least I'm changing their eating habits and hopefully they continue on this healthier eat path while they're in school. You know how healthy public school food is. Hopefully when we move to Chicago that we'll be able to put B in a private school or a type of home school.
Well since things are starting to calm down around the house now, I'm going to do some laundry before the next set of contractors come in to fix the house. Have a great weekend!!
